Nanban Sauce

Versatile Japanese frying marinade with a sweet and tangy flavor.

Ingredients

  • 150ml Water
  • 4 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 3 tbsp Mirin
  • 3 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Cooking Vinegar
  • Slices of Ginger

Steps

  1. Add all the ingredients to a pot.
  2. Heat until boiling, then set aside.
  3. This sauce can be used to add flavour to fried foods, such as Karaage. It is not used to have as a sauce on the side on the table.
